Prior to becoming a CIS Management B.V. team member Mrs. Jordaan had been employed for several years by one of the top 4 Dutch trust companies, Amsterdam office. Yolandi moved to the Netherlands from South Africa in 2013 where she has studied accountancy and taxation and worked as an auditor and later on as a tax specialist at PricewaterhouseCoopers for 6 years.

Continue reading →During summer 2017, 70 countries committed to sign a new pact tackling tax avoidance, which should theoretically resolve some of the current difficulties in the area. The topic gained special attention in the light of the recent discussion around Google case, whereby the French authorities insisted that Google’s activities in the country amounted to “permanent establishment” and therefore claimed more than EUR 1.1 bn in back taxes. French authorities took a more aggressive approach as compared to the largely criticized decision brought last year by the UK, reaching a deal with Google. The judgement was unfortunate for the French authorities and the appeal is upcoming.
Tax budget proposals for the fiscal year 2018 was announced on September 19, 2017, by the Dutch Ministry of Finance. According to the paper, several amendments to tax law should enter into force as per January 01, 2018, if approved. Most importandly for business - the Dutch Dividend Withholding Tax Act.
Continue reading →In March 2017, following a request on the basis of the Act on public access to government information, the State Secretary for Finance published the memorandum ‘The APA/ATR practice, a memorandum regarding the most frequently occurring appearances’ (‘De APA/ATR-praktijk, notitie over de meest voorkomende verschijningsvormen’). The memorandum provides insight from a tax viewpoint into the interpretation of many frequently occurring international structures.
