Starting from 1 July 2024, Dutch employers with 100 or more employees are obliged to report on the business traffic and commuting of employees. Employers with fewer than 100 employees may submit the report on a voluntary basis without obligation.
The (first) report on 2024 must be submitted at latest on 30 June 2025 and it must contain, amongst others, information on how many kilometres the employees travelled for business purposes in a given year and the type of transportation and fuel used.
This reporting obligation is introduced to have a better overview of CO2-emissions. The Dutch government will monitor whether CO2-emissions have decreased sufficiently; if not, new measures may be introduced to reduce CO2-emissions.
